Strap on your jet-packs! In this workshop, you’ll get the skinny on what happens when you let off a lot of steam while dancing really good, really fast. You’ll learn and drill two original combos snatched directly from the Hot Pot Studio tribal vocabulary, both are equipped for improv and ready for show. You will have fun. You will sweat. Frederique
"Arm Your Performance with Charm"
Learn Ferderique's unique approach to upper-body gesticulation, and more importantly, explore your own style. Arms are your opportunity to apply your manner, personality, and expression through dance. Often belly dance training focuses on just hips and abs, but this workshop will be all arms with torso, shoulders, and head subtleties for refined expression. And let's not forget the final frontier of dance expertise: Hands, right down to your finger tips. Frederique's many details on hand and finger placement create a relaxed feel and look. In this workshop, we will obtain elegance, grace, poise, and polish for your individual style through strengthening, emotional expression, and drills specifically developed by Frederique for this class.

Session 2
11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Zoe Jakes
"Exquisitely Slow Isolations and Extreme Undulations"
Zoe is famous for delivering powerful performances that reach the back wall of any room. This is the result of her dedication to hard work. More specifically, her hand work, wrist work, elbow work, and shoulder work, combined with powerful posture, oblique strengthening (for that horizontal pull that makes mayas and hip slides so exquisite), and belly rolls with emphasis on stomach musculature And then all this comes together in exquisitely slow isolations and extreme undulations. Share all the details that Zoe is focusing on in her personal practice right now!

Kassar
"Slinking like Sexy Siamese Twins"
Kassar’s rep is built not only on their top-notch pair dancing, but also their symbiotic ability to move as one. In this workshop you’ll learn the secrets that makes this dynamic duo so smooth and enticing. One of the biggest challenges in dance is interacting with another dancer on stage -- it's also one of the most rewarding. This workshop presents combinations focusing on moving in sync with your partner in unique ways; on and off the floor. Every movement will be outlined and drilled, then combined to form the final choreography. By the end of this fast-paced, East-Coast-style class you will be slinking together like sexy Siamese twins.

Samantha Riggs
"Pirate Bellydance: Why Is The Rum Always Gone?"

Pirate Belly Dance is the culmination of Samantha's experience with tribal fusion, stage combat, Bollywood and Bhangra, African fusion, comedy theatre and tall ship sailing. In this class, you'll learn to do drops, spins and shimmies all while keeping your open rum bottle safe! This workshop everything necessary to transfer a prop as a dancer transitions from fancy footwork to athletic floor work. These skills can be applied to almost any hand-held prop (rum bottles, fire props, swords, etc.) and also come in handy at your better parties. Please bring a plastic rum (or water) bottle to use as a prop and, if you need, knee/ankle/foot support for floor work and drops.

Just Added! Janice Solimeno
"The Joys of Improv - A Free Workshop for All Levels"

From its beginnings, modern Tribal technique has been rooted in the ability to improvise routines with a group of dancers. With more and more choreography saturating the scene, this core ability is being lost. And many groups are foregoing the original improv moves for new variations. As a dancer with some of the most influential groups in Tribal bellydance (Ultra Gypsy, The Indigo, Bastet, etc), Janice is uniquely qualified to share the key elements, cueing techniques, and common moves that will allow you to dance with anyone, anywhere, at anytime.

Amy Sigil
"Unmata 110%"

No belly dance fusion enthusiast ever drowned from sweat and to train like the Unmata grrls, you’ve got to be willing to get down and get wet. After this rigorous workshop you’ll walk away with two of Amy Sigils signature combos broken down into movement components, bootlaced together, and drilled till you’re ready to drop. Be prepared to tap into your hidden reserves of strength and sass as you take on this class.

Warning: Not for paper dolls. And yes, the music will be very, very loud!

Just Added! Sabrina Fox
"Atashimmies with Maya Layers"

In their 5th year, Atash Maya's edgy blend of Middle Eastern, Modern, Asian-style dance influences, and jazz technique is fused with a beautiful trend-setting style all their own. This workshop will share some of that trademark style with students of all-levels. Opening with a balance and core strengthening warm-up required to travel and make level changes with the layered shimmies, we'll move forward to a shimmy breakdown.
